DOCKING VILLAGE HALL - ROOF APPEAL

Half a century of exposure to the bracing north Norfolk elements means that the old concrete tile roof of the Hall now needs to be replaced.

The Hall Management Committee is undertaking a number of fundraising efforts by approaching organisations and charities for contributions towards the cost of the new roof in 2018.

However, we are also asking the local community - as the main beneficiaries of the facilities that the Hall provides - to contribute to our fundraising through a "Sponsor A Tile" programme.

The Hall Committee is therefore inviting village residents to donate towards this project, in return for which they will have a roof tile inscribed with their name.

Donors will also be recognised, if they so wish, through inclusion on an Honour Board that will be placed in the Hall.

Here's how you can make a donation to the roof appeal:

By cheque

Simply print out and fill in the donation form that you can find here and return it to the Hall with a cheque.

(copies of the form are available from the Hall if you are unable to print this out)

Update on the Appeal as of June 2018

The final arrival of the warmer weather has seen the roof fund continue to grow towards our target of £65,000.

Through the generosity of the village and with the support of the Norfolk Community Foundation, we now have a total of £55,000 in the bank or promised by the grant-awarding bodies.

We are very grateful to the Norfolk Community Foundation, the Paul Bassham Charitable Trust and also to the Chiplow Wind Farm Fund, the Shelroy Trust, the Kings Lynn and West Norfolk Community Small Grants Fund and the Blakemore Foundation.

These organisations, along with the village, are bringing us closer to the target every month.

We continue to work on applications to other grant awarding bodies and to promote the Hall's events - especially the Wednesday and Saturday café mornings.

Please keep spreading the word, encourage further donations wherever you can, and keep an eye on the barometer in the Hall window to see how your help is making a difference.

Update on the Appeal as of December 2018

Just in time for Christmas Tony Hooker and his excellent team completed the replacement of all the old tiles on the Ripper Hall roof.

For good measure, they repainted the eaves and we are sure you will agree that the new slates look superb.

We are very grateful to Tony for all his support, as well as the grant awarding bodies who helped us - The King's Lynn and West Norfolk Small Grants Fund; the Shelroy Trust; the Chiplow and Jack's Lane Wind Farms both gave us significant donations, as did the Paul Bassham Trust and the Blakemore Trust.

Many local groups contributed too, as did more than one hundred and twenty individuals and families living in the village.

It has been a tremendous effort, accomplished in a remarkably short time, and the Village Hall Committee hope that we shall see you in the New Year at the wide range of activities that the hall plays host to.

Thank you for your support!
